Geco came to live with us around 1992 in Arizona. I got her from a guy selling reptiles out of the paper. We had actually gone to purchase a snake from him (which we did), but I saw a 10 gallon tank with a handful of leopard geckos in it - bare glass floor, a lightbulb in a silver-dome reflector above them, and a couple dead crickets laying on the floor. They all looked sickly and skinny. The guy said they probably wouldn't last the week, so I asked if I could have one. I felt so sorry for them. We agreed that if the gecko lived we would pay for it, if it didn't, no harm done. He highly doubted it would live. Geco will be 11 years old this September (2003). A few months after we got her, when it was obvious she was healthy, we contacted the guy but he never came to get his payment. I really wish I had asked for the whole tankful of them now. I hate to think of the horrible fate the rest of them suffered. :( We sure do enjoy our Geco Girl though. She gives little kisses by flicking her tongue at your nose when you hold her to your face. She likes to sit on your shoulder, and will tickle your arm crawling up your sleeve if you're not careful. She's got such beautiful markings and soulful eyes. She's the most docile creature I've owned besides Kiwi.
